“You got me when I was an unformed youth, God, and taught me everything that I know. Now I’m telling the world your wonders; I’ll keep at it until I’m old and gray”. Psalm 71:17

The key to making your walk with Christ successful, and really feeling connected to him every day requires more than the simple words that you prayed and we have a whole group of people that really want to help you through this journey.

A couple of things that you can do to help yourself get closer to God:

1)      You need to talk to God (pray).  This one is sometimes the thing that seems a little silly at first because unlike talking to your best friend you are talking to someone that you can’t see or hear (out loud anyway).  But it is super important. You don’t have to say any “special prayers” you can just say things the way that you would if you were talking to him as a real person.  No stereotypical prayers, just thank him for the things that you have and ask for the things that you need (not a new iPhone, but for help sticking with this new life, patience with your parents, help knowing what you want to do with your life).

2)      You need to start reading the bible.  It is a big help in knowing what living a life for Christ is about.  Now I wouldn’t recommend starting at the beginning, or the end.  While Genesis and Revelation are GREAT books, they are a bit tricky to understand if it’s your first stab at reading the bible.  Maybe check out 1 John, Colossians or Ephesians first.

A really easy way to get started would be to sign up for the FCA devotions, by
clicking here, and they will email you a short devotion which will have a quick story and a verse or two every day. There are also some awesome devotional books out there that can be very helpful as well that you should be able to find at your local christian bookstore.

3)      Get connected with people who can help with your walk every day. Attend your FCA huddle each month and get involved with a church.  Need help? We can help you.  Just email us and we will get someone who will be ready to walk with you through this.  No matter who you are, you can’t try to make it as a Christian by yourself. Email us at: fcadallas@gmail.com

Do you want to send an email directly to your FCA rep and talk about these changes and what's going on in your life?  We would love to talk with you about it.  Click here to get to their contact information.
