Through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, we are blessed and challenged with so many opportunities to reach people for Christ through the world of sports. This is an exciting time and I am so thankful for your interest, involvement and support of the FCA ministry.
On March 1st, I began my duties as Senior Director of Ministry Programs with the Greater Dallas FCA. In addition to my continuing role of serving schools and communities in the North Central Division, I am giving overall direction and leadership in the 4 C’s of the FCA Ministry of the Greater Dallas FCA Office: Campus, Coaches, Camps and Community.
The Lord has blessed this area with so many Christian Coaches, Teachers and administrators that make the most of their influence by leading and supporting the FCA Huddles on their campuses. In the North Central Division, we had over 40 active FCA Huddles this past school year and saw new Huddles start at Ereckson MS in Allen, Bowman MS in Plano, McKinney North HS and Prosper High School.
We were proud to recognize Dowell MS in McKinney as the Greater Dallas FCA /KCBI 90.9 Huddle of the Month, and Frankford MS (Plano) Huddle Coach, Julia Butler, as the Greater Dallas FCA Female Huddle Coach of the Year.
On Saturday, May 15, we had our first ever FCA Night with the Frisco Roughriders. Over 650 students, coaches and family members came to Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Tx to see the Frisco Roughriders take on the Corpus Christi Hooks. The pre-game rally featured guest speaker, Logan Stout, who shared about his faith in Christ and had several kids respond to the invitation to receive Christ as Savior and Lord! After the rally, everyone enjoyed the “all you can eat” ballpark food and a great win by the Roughriders!!
We are currently in our FCA Summer Camp Season and planning season for the 2010/2011 school year, with exciting things on the horizon like our new Character and Leadership Initiative and new Huddle Curriculum. Our theme for this year is “Unleash the Power - Strengthen Your Core” from Colossians 1:11: “May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy...”. My prayer for all of us is that we live daily in His power and love as we look forward to what the Lord has in store for us this next year.
