During this special holiday time of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year, I wanted to share with you some of the blessings that have taken place so far this year in the North Central Division of the Greater Dallas FCA.
With active FCA Huddles on 40 of the high school and middle school campuses, the Huddle Coaches, student leaders and members are sharing in fellowship and growing in the love of Christ during their weekly Huddle meetings, such as Plano East Senior HS in the team room on Friday mornings at 8:00, or in the auxilary gym Curtis MS in Allen at 7:15 on Tuesday Mornings, or Van Alstyne HS at 1st Methodist Church at 7:00 on Friday mornings and Evans MS in McKinney in Coach G’s room at 7:00 on Friday mornings, and more and more like these all over the area. Thank you to the Huddle Coaches and volunteers who make this happen!!
One of our Huddles, Dowell Middle School FCA in McKinney, was recognized as the KCBI 90.9/Greater Dallas FCA Huddle of the Month for October. In his interview with KCBI, Coach Johnson shared how their Huddle has grown to a group of up to 130 students that meets every Friday morning at 7:00am in the Library for donuts and fellowship, a message from a local speaker, and then small group discussion led by their student leaders. They participate in FCA SMU Gameday and are looking forward to bringing many of their members to the upcoming Weekend of Champions 2010 at Sky Ranch in February. “... its those strengthened relationships with Christ that have not only helped the students in everyday life, but also while they are competing, giving the credit to their Lord and Savior.”
On Nov 16, we had the privilege of honoring Julia Butler, Huddle Coach for Frankford Middle School FCA in the Plano ISD as the Greater Dallas FCA Female Huddle Coach of the Year at our recent Coach’s Appreciation Dinner. Julia has been Huddle Coach there for the past 10 years and has had a tremendous impact for Christ on the kids there, along with the outstanding FCA coaches and parents she serves with. They have an average of 50 students that meet in their gym at 7:15am every Tuesday morning. She is also an active member of the Plano FCA Adult Chapter.
Speaking of Adult Chapters, we are blessed now to have 3 official chapters in the North Central Division in the communities of Leonard, Plano and McKinney. These chapters are made up of people that have a heart for the FCA ministry, and provide a time for adult Christian fellowship, ministry opportunities, and provide resources and support for the FCA Huddles, Coaches and overall ministry in their local community. Events such as the Leonard FCA Golf Tournament and 5th Quarter Fellowship, Plano FCA Adult Chapter Leadership Run and FCA Kickoff Breakfast, and the upcoming McKinney FCA Huddle Coach Workshop are all ministries of the local Adult Chapters. Thank you for your ministry and support.
During the upcoming Holiday Season, we are encouraging all Greater Dallas FCA Huddles participate in “FCA Gives Back” and do a service project to share the Love of Christ and bless those in need. With each FCA Huddle participating across the Greater Dallas Area, it will have an incredible impact in many lives across our communities and beyond.
Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support. May God continue to bless each of you and your families in this special time of year.
