Wow, it is summer!I don’t know how it happened and I don’t know where the last 6 months have gone but they are gone and all I have to show for it is an office full of paperwork and photo albums full of pictures from all over this city.We have definitely kept busy so far this year from hoopster’s games to golf tournaments to multiple 5k runs, staff retreats, and the list could continue and somewhere in the middle of all of it I managed to escape for my first European holiday. One thing that the frantic pace has shown is that God is working throughout all of our different huddles all across the city of Dallas.
Some highlights of the year, at the halfway point.
Plano Adult Chapter/John Clark 5k :I love watching this group come together as they plan and pray for their students and their community.Their 5th Annual event was a huge success bringing together all parts of the community.
Rockwall First Annual Fun Run :What a first year for the Rockwall group? They came together to raise money for students/coaches to go to camp and overall ministry on the Rockwall, Rockwall Heath and Royse City campuses.I have never seen a community promote an event so consistently and work together so single-mindedly and it was seen on-site at the event in ever detail.
Summer Camps :Camps have been a big part of my life over the past month as I have been in charge of the registration process for our offices and while at times it has been a bit hectic when to pause for a second and think about it, it is so exciting. When you step away from your life, even if only for a few days, suddenly everything can become so much clearer. The same is true for these middle school and high school kids.Whether going to a Leadership Camp or Sports Specific camp they are finding time to be trained on being a strong Christian witness in their everyday life. They are learning how to use their passions as a way to witness to their friends, teammates and some times even family. What could be a better use of a week of their summer?I can’t think of a thing.
